Sighting
"A phaenomenon was observed, on the 11th past, between three and four in the morning, at Hochst, about two leagues from Frankfort on the Mayne. The heavens seemed to emit a torrent of fire, which was so bright, that the smallest characters might have been read. It continued about five minutes. After this it assumed a serpentine form, then a globular one, and lastly was divided into a number of little stars, which gradually disappeared."
