*Strange Astral Phenomenon*

A number of persons who observed
the sky last evening at about the
hour of 10, witnessed a most peculiar
and beautiful phenomenon, the nature
of which could probably only be
explained by a skilled astronomer.
At shortly after 10 o'clock the sky
was suddenly illuminated with a flash
after which a bright band of light directly
overhead extended for a short
distance across the skies from the
northwest to the southeast. The light
remained in this position for possibly
ten minutes, gradually beginning to
fade and curling into the form of a
figure three, then after merging into
a faint circular form, disappeared. A
number of persons who witnessed the
sight were fascinated by its beauty.
The phenomenon is inexplicable, but
from its brilliancy attracted the attention
of a number of persons.
