Transcription of the "Charleroi Mail" article: "Northern Lights were Visible Last Night. Brilliant lights in the sky in the northern portion from the east to the west, about 10:30 o'clock last night, were observed by hundreds of people in this section. The lights seemed to float up from the horizon in waves, glowing brightly at times and then fading away. Officials at Washington said it was the most brilliant display ever seen in this latitude."
