An airship was seen coming from Gettysburg and followed by witness William H. Sharretts for two miles when it suddenly vanished in smoke. According to the Philadelphia Evening Bulletin, "three huge lights of almost uniform dimensions appeared in the early morning sky." A farmer, Joseph Green declared those lights were meteors which fell on his farm.
