"BOSTON, Sept. 23. - A telegram yesterday from Percival Lowell at his observatory at Flagstaff, Ariz., states that recent observations show that the canals of Mars are disappearing. Prof. Lowell has in previous years in the fall observed a similar disappearance, which he considers a seasonable phenomenon and which he thinks tends to support the theory that life exists on Mars and that canals denote a system of irrigation."
